Facial Rejuvenation FAQ

What is facial rejuvenation acupuncture?

You may have heard of it referred to as cosmetic acupuncture or an acupuncture facelift, facial rejuvenation acupuncture increases collagen production and can help reduce wrinkles, diminish fine lines, and remove age spots.

Utilizing a holistic approach to beauty and healing, acupuncture also can reduce stress and increase feelings of well-being, which both add to the expression of inner beauty and diminish the effects that the aging process has on our bodies, minds, and spirits.

Before you begin any treatment, Jewel will do a full intake and chose points along your body to help support your constitution, to reduce pain and help with any mental or emotional blockages that may be effecting your health and expression of your inner glow.

How many sessions do I need to see a difference?

Typically, clients see a difference after 2-4 consecutive treatments. While every person is different, and it also depends on what issue you are coming in for, I typically recommend 8-10 sessions either weekly or bi-weekly (every other week). You will notice a difference in overall health and well-being as well as differences to your face. In between treatments, you should also focus on increasing healthy fat consumption (including fish oil or other omega 3s), increasing water intake, applying GLOW CBD face balm, as well as at home facial gua sha to notice the greatest results. After the completion of 8-10 sessions, you can go into what is referred to as “maintenance mode,” where you can get come in for sessions every four to six weeks to stay on top of the progress and address any new signs and symptoms as they occur.

Can I safely do facial rejuvenation if I’ve already had traditional anti-aging medical spa treatments such as Botox®, Juvaderm® or Restylane®?

ABSOLUTELY! While facial rejuvenation acupuncture and Botox work in very different ways, we at Jewel in the Lotus Healing appreciate the integrative approach. Jewel’s unique background of working at a medical spa in San Diego for 4 years, educated her on the way fillers and Botox work and how we can use Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture as well as other natural and holistic therapies to make the results last longer and reduce the amount of filler/Botox needed for future treatments. Just let Jewel/your practitioner know when and where you have had the Botox/fillers so she can make adjustments to her treatment plan accordingly.

Does it hurt?

While the experience will be different for everyone, acupuncture usually doesn't cause discomfort or pain. The acupuncture needles used for facial rejuvenation are as thin as a hair. If you happen to feel any discomfort during your treatment with Jewel, just let her know and she can easily adjust whatever may be bothering you.

Does it hurt?

It is uncommon to bruise from acupuncture, but it does happen occasionally. If you are worried about bruising or happen to be the kind of person who is either anemic or just bruises easily, you can increase your iron intake before treatments, and/or take arnica pills 2-3 days before your treatment.

What is facial cupping/facial gua sha?

Facial cupping is used to gently pull the skin away from deeper layers of fascia. We apply facial oil and use our small, glass cups and gently slide them over the face. This increases blood flow to the area and rejuvenates the skin without leaving cup marks behind. It is quite relaxing!

Facial gua sha is a treatment that involves oil application and then gently scraping a healing jade or rose quartz stone over the skin in upward strokes to relax stiff muscles, move qi and blood to increase blood flow and circulation, and promote lymphatic and tissue drainage. It is done as lot lighter snd gentler traditional Gua Sha, it won’t leave bruise-like marks at all. This is a wonderful technique that you can learn how to do yourself at home in between your Facial Rejuvenation Sessions (hyper link rose quartz gua sha tools in JLH’s shop) and you can purchase them at JLH and she will educate you on how to use them.
